CrayonMill vs iColoring for KDP coloring books

The short version

iColoring is a well-made tool drawer: photo-to-line-art, text-to-page, colorizer, worksheets, Perler patterns, and more. Each tool makes one image. CrayonMill makes one thing — a KDP-ready coloring book — and does the parts a publisher would otherwise do by hand.

Where iColoring is the better pick

  • If you want to turn a family photo into a coloring page, colorize a line drawing, or print a worksheet, iColoring has the tool and CrayonMill does not — CrayonMill has no photo-upload path at all.
  • If you want a single page right now rather than a planned book, iColoring's per-image tools fit that faster than setting up a full audience-and-theme run.

Where CrayonMill is the better pick

  • If the output is a book you will upload to KDP, the gap is the work between "I have 40 images" and "I have a file KDP is happy with": topic planning, style consistency, 300 DPI 1-bit output, and gutter by page count.
  • If you want a resolution number you never have to check yourself, CrayonMill draws every page at 2550 × 3300 px natively — iColoring's 1K/2K presets top out at 120/240 DPI, both below what KDP recommends for a letter-size interior.

Questions

Does iColoring make a whole book?

Its Coloring Book Generator produces one page per run with a reference image; you assemble the PDF yourself with its Image-to-PDF tool.

Is iColoring's 2K output enough for KDP?

2K on a letter page is 240 DPI by its own label. KDP recommends a minimum of 300 DPI and defines anything under 200 DPI as low resolution — 240 DPI falls short of the recommendation but above that low-resolution line.
