What it does
Toddler (2–4) is the boldest default of the six audience levels: Extra bold line weight, one large object per page, and a plain background instead of a busy scene. Set the audience to Toddler, type a theme — animals, vehicles, shapes, whatever the book is about — and choose a page count from 24 to 300 art pages (up to 150 if single-sided, since each page gets a blank back). The topic planner writes one simple, distinct object per page; the drawing step renders it at the audience's default line weight (Extra bold, though the line detail chip can change it); the cleaning pipeline flattens it to 1-bit at 300 DPI before export.
| Audience level | Default line weight | Typical topic shape |
|---|---|---|
| Toddler (2–4) | Extra bold | One large object, plain background |
| Preschool (5–7) | Bold | Simple scene, few objects |
| Kids (8–11) | Medium | Scene with light detail |

Why the default is bold, even though it is overridable
A toddler page rendered at a fine line weight would ask a 2-year-old to color inside gaps too narrow for a crayon tip, which is the opposite of what the book is for — that is why Toddler's default is Extra bold rather than something you have to remember to set yourself. The plain-background rule is a topic-planning choice, not a line-weight one: a busy scene behind the one big object gives a toddler more edges to accidentally color outside of, so Toddler topics stay to a single subject even when the theme text describes a whole setting.
What it does not do
- It does not add scene complexity to a toddler page even if the theme text is elaborate — the audience level's topic style caps object count regardless of how the theme is phrased.
- It does not accept a photo of a specific toy or pet and turn it into a page; every topic is written by the planner from the theme text, not from an upload.
- It does not include the front or back cover — a Toddler-level run produces interior pages only, and the cover size guide walks through that step on its own.
- It does not mix line weights within one book — whatever weight the build starts with (Extra bold by default, or another weight if you override it) applies to every page, so a book meant to step up in detail across sections needs to be planned as separate books instead.
