What you are looking at
Wild Mantras is a reference book: it was made by the CrayonMill team, outside the studio queue, to set the quality bar for detailed teen and adult books. The page list, the candidate counts, the cover and the print check above are read from the real production files — the finished interior PDF and the drawing log — not written for this page. The colored panels are AI examples made from the finished line art; the book itself is black-and-white.
Each page is one realistic animal inside a dense mandala, with a mantra set below it: a sea turtle for "I move at my own pace", a tiger for quiet courage, an owl for inner wisdom. The 24 animals are grouped into six worlds so the book has a rhythm — every world opens with its own chapter page and a one-line intention before its four animals.
Why the candidate counts are uneven
Most pages took two drafts. A few took many more, and the page list shows exactly which. The sea turtle needed eleven: an early pick had five flippers, which an automatic anatomy check waved through. The cat needed six after one draft grew a second tail, and the sloth, octopus, manta ray, dragonfly and peacock were redrawn for extra claws or scribbles that looked like writing. The turtle and the cat were caught only by looking at each page at full size, so every page in the finished book was picked by eye with a checklist — limb count, tail count, symmetric pose, no letter-like marks in the pattern, no solid gray areas that would print as a blotch.
That is also why the drawing prompts changed during the run. Naming the number of legs is not enough on its own; saying where each limb sits and asking for a symmetric, front-facing pose cut the defects far more than any wording about "correct anatomy".
How it differs from a studio book
The studio exports 300 DPI 1-bit pages and builds the PDF with the gutter KDP expects. Wild Mantras went one step further by hand: every selected drawing was traced to vector outlines, so lines stay crisp at any zoom, and the mantra lettering, chapter openers and front matter were laid out page by page. Vector tracing and these layouts are not in the studio yet. If you want a book in this spirit today, the button above starts a studio book with a close theme and the teen audience; the result will be 1-bit raster pages, not this exact style.
Printing notes
The interior is 8.5 × 11 in with every art page single-sided, so markers cannot bleed through onto the next drawing. The finished PDF embeds its fonts, contains no raster images, and its thinnest line is thick enough to survive print. The cover is a full wrap with bleed and a clear barcode area.
