What you are looking at
Wild ABC is the second reference book made in-house, in the style of Wild Mantras but for younger hands. Every letter page teaches one sound four ways: a giant hollow letter pair to color ("A a"), the word with its first letter filled in ("Alpaca"), a realistic animal inside a simple mandala, and a trace-it line of dashed letters on proper handwriting guides. An affirmation at the bottom repeats the sound — "I am awesome", "I am loving", "I am outstanding" — so a child says the letter out loud while coloring.
The page list above is read from the finished book, including how many drafts each animal took. The colored panels are AI examples; the pages print as black-and-white line art.
Why these animals
The animal is chosen by the letter's most common sound, not just its spelling: Alpaca and Octopus for the short vowels, a hard C for Cat and a hard G for Gorilla, and no two-consonant starts like Snake or Crocodile that blur the sound a beginner is learning. Rare letters use real animals a child can look up — Quetzal, X-ray fish, Umbrellabird — rather than invented words.
The letters are set in Andika, a typeface designed for beginning readers: a single-story "a" and "g" as children write them at school, and an I, l and 1 that are easy to tell apart.
What the close-up check caught
82 drafts became 26 pages. The rejects were the kind of thing a quick glance misses: a jaguar with a second tail, a cat whose tail floated in mid-air, a zebra with two heads, another zebra with a letter-like mark on its back, a narwhal with a dorsal fin it does not have, an umbrellabird with a hornbill's beak, and a panda drawn with solid black patches that left nothing to color. Spelling out where the tail sits in the prompt fixed the tails far better than asking for "one tail". Two iguana drafts came back as solid black images from the model's safety filter, which is why every page keeps at least three candidates.
How it differs from a studio book
The studio exports 300 DPI 1-bit pages and builds the KDP-ready PDF. Wild ABC's letter layouts, trace-it lines and vector tracing were done by hand and are not in the studio yet; the studio button above starts a kids' book with a close theme. The same drawings are planned for German and Spanish editions, with their own sound rules.
